Ultrafiltration
A physical barrier against bacteria, viruses and turbidity. Ultrafiltration membranes that retain bacteria, viruses, colloids and organic matter without chemicals.

Ultrafiltration at Laboratorios LIFE245 m³/day in two modules
What it is and how it works
Ultrafiltration passes water at low pressure through membranes with 0.02 to 0.03 µm pores. That size retains suspended solids, colloids, bacteria, viruses and organic macromolecules while letting water and dissolved salts through. Periodic backwashes and CIP cleaning keep the membrane operating stably.
- 1Low pressureWater crosses the membrane with little energy.
- 2Physical barrierSolids, colloids, bacteria, viruses and macromolecules stay behind; water and salts pass through.
- 3Backwash and CIPKeep the membrane operating stably.
Benefits
- A physical barrier against bacteria and viruses, with no chemicals.
