Sediment filtration
The first barrier of any treatment system. Retains suspended solids and turbidity to protect downstream equipment and processes.

Multimedia filters at PRONACAFiltration ahead of ultrafiltration
What it is and how it works
Multimedia filters pass the water through beds of filter media with different grain sizes, for example zeolite. Each layer retains particles of a different size, so the filter works through its entire depth and not just at the surface. When the bed is saturated, an automatic backwash cleans it and it is ready to operate again.
- 1Water passes through the bedIt flows through layers of filter media with different grain sizes.
- 2Each layer retains one sizeThe filter works through its entire depth, not just at the surface.
- 3Automatic backwashWhen the bed is saturated, it is cleaned and goes back into service.
Benefits
- Protects downstream membranes, resins, UV lamps and equipment.
- Reduces turbidity and suspended solids consistently.
- Reduces how often cartridges are changed and cleanings are needed.
- Low operating cost: only backwash water and minimal energy.
Technical features
- Fiberglass (FRP), stainless steel or carbon steel tanks.
- Filter media selected according to your water quality.
- Automatic control valve for backwash by time or by treated water volume.
- Single, duplex or parallel configuration for continuous operation.
- Inlet and outlet pressure gauges to monitor saturation.
- Flow rates from 0.1 to 1,000 m³/h.
