Is your water treatment system facing any of these challenges?
A well-designed treatment system helps optimize resources, improve water quality and prevent operating problems. At Sanitron we analyze each project’s needs to develop technical solutions tailored to its conditions and goals.
- Water does not meet the required qualityPhysical, chemical or microbiological parameters that don’t meet the requirements of the process or the water’s end use.
- Underperforming equipment and systemsScaling, membrane fouling, resin wear or pretreatment deficiencies.
- Difficulty meeting environmental requirementsThe need to properly treat effluents and manage discharges in line with applicable environmental regulations.
- High operating costsHigh water, energy or chemical consumption that may call for a review of the design and operating conditions.
- A new project without a defined solutionYou need to turn your requirements into a technical proposal that defines the technologies, design and implementation scope.
Why choose Sanitron for your project?
- Engineering tailored to each applicationWe design solutions based on flow requirements, feed water characterization, target quality and the operating conditions of each system.
- Integrated engineering and executionWe coordinate design, equipment selection, implementation and commissioning according to each project’s scope.
- Solutions for different water sourcesWe develop treatment proposals for municipal water, wells, springs, seawater and wastewater, considering each source’s characteristics and intended use.
- Quality equipment, materials and spare partsWe work with high-quality brands and materials, backed by equipment and spare parts availability to meet each project’s requirements.
- Support for operation and maintenanceWe complement our projects with operation, maintenance and monitoring services through Sanitron 360 to support system performance and operational continuity.
Stages and technologies for every treatment process
We integrate unit operations and treatment technologies based on feed water quality, target parameters and operating conditions. Each stage plays a specific role in the system and is selected according to the project’s technical requirements.
1Primary treatment
Solids separation and initial conditioning
- Screening for solids retention.
- Oxidation processes to treat certain metals, depending on their composition and chemical state.
- Lamella settling to separate suspended solids.
- Coagulation and flocculation using systems such as Gas Energy Mixing (GEM).
When do you need it?When the water contains suspended solids, turbidity, grease or certain metals that require prior treatment. This stage reduces the load on downstream processes and improves their performance.
2Secondary treatment
Reduction of organic matter and biodegradable contaminants
- Anaerobic biological treatment with UASB and EGSB technologies.
- Aerobic biological treatment with MBR and MBBR technologies.
When do you need it?For wastewater with a biodegradable organic load, such as that generated by certain food, agro-industrial and textile processes. The process choice depends on the effluent characteristics and treatment goals; anaerobic systems can allow biogas recovery.
3Tertiary treatment
Fine-tuning water quality for its end use
- Multimedia filtration for sediment retention and activated carbon filtration.
- Softening by ion exchange.
- Ultrafiltration.
- Reverse osmosis.
- Electrodeionization (EDI).
- UV and ozone disinfection.
When do you need it?When specific water parameters must be reduced for industrial applications, purified water, processes requiring low salt concentration or reuse of treated effluent. The combination of technologies depends on the target quality and each application’s particular requirements.
4Complementary
Operational control and equipment protection
- Automated pH control.
- Membrane chemical cleaning systems (CIP).
- Monitoring of operating parameters, flow and pressure.
When do you need it?To control operating conditions, detect deviations and make equipment maintenance easier. Instrumentation, alarms and cleaning procedures are defined according to each system’s characteristics and needs.
Looking for an engineering solution designed for your process?
We develop engineering and design projects for water treatment systems, from defining technical requirements and selecting technologies to producing the design solution, according to each facility’s needs.
How we work: from requirements to an operating plant
We follow a structured process that covers everything from requirements analysis and technology selection to system design and commissioning. Each phase includes activities and deliverables defined according to the needs and scope of each project.
- Survey and analysisGathering process information, water characterization, determining design flows and defining the required quality parameters.
- Conceptual engineeringPreliminary evaluation and selection of technologies, treatment scheme development and investment and operating cost estimates to compare alternatives.
- Basic and detailed engineeringCalculation reports, process flow diagrams and P&IDs, layout drawings, equipment and instrumentation lists and technical specifications.
- Supply and fabricationManagement of equipment supply and fabrication in line with the specifications and the scope defined for the project.
- Installation and commissioningCoordination of assembly, testing and system start-up according to the acceptance criteria established for the project.
- Training and operational supportKnowledge transfer to the operating staff, with the option to complement the project with operation and maintenance services through Sanitron 360.
Engineering deliverables for your project
Each project includes technical documentation matching its scope, designed to make system implementation, operation and maintenance easier.

- End use of the water: intended application and the quality requirements it must meet.
- Installation conditions: available space and existing utilities, such as power and drainage.
- Additional information: photos, drawings or site diagrams, if available.
Frequently asked questions
How long does an engineering and design project take?
The timeline depends on the required flow, system complexity, available information and project scope. Once the requirements are assessed, we define the work stages and the corresponding schedule in the technical proposal.
Do I need a water analysis to request a proposal?
A water analysis makes technology selection and system sizing easier. If you don’t have one yet, we can guide you on the information needed to evaluate your project and determine the next steps.
Can you improve or expand an existing treatment plant?
Yes. We assess the system’s condition and operating needs to identify opportunities for upgrades, performance improvements or capacity expansion. Learn about our upgrades and retrofits service.
What standards and requirements do you consider in the design?
Design criteria are defined according to the water’s end use, the process characteristics and applicable regulations. Where relevant, specific standards are considered for applications such as pharmaceutical water, hemodialysis systems and wastewater treatment.
Does the equipment come with a warranty and spare parts availability?
We work with quality equipment, materials and components, and keep spare parts and consumables available to meet our clients’ requirements. Warranty terms and periods are set according to the equipment supplied and the terms of each project.
Can you take care of the plant’s operation and maintenance?
Yes. You can complement your project with our operation and maintenance services and with Sanitron 360 monitoring and management solutions.
