Electrodeionization (EDI)
Continuous final polishing, with no acids or caustic soda. Continuous ultrapure water without chemical regeneration. Ideal for pharmaceuticals, laboratories and microelectronics.

What it is and how it works
Electrodeionization (EDI or CEDI) combines ion exchange resins, selective membranes and an electric field. Ions remaining after reverse osmosis are captured by the resin and pulled by the electric current into a concentrate stream. Because electricity continuously regenerates the resin, the unit produces high-purity water without stopping and without regeneration chemicals.
- 1The resin captures the ionsThose remaining after reverse osmosis.
- 2The current pulls them awaySelective membranes move them into the concentrate stream.
- 3Continuous regenerationElectricity regenerates the resin, without chemicals or shutdowns.
Benefits
- Stable ultrapure water quality 24 hours a day.
- No chemical regenerations or handling of acids and caustics.
- Lower operating cost than ion exchange beds.
- Compact, modular design.
- Simple operation with integrated monitoring.
Technical features
- Generation of purified water (PW) and water for injection (WFI).
- Installed after the reverse osmosis.
- Control panel with data monitoring.
- Configuration based on flow and required quality.
